Steel Structural Design Engineer, Industrials & Infra — UAE

Our client is looking for an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join its specialist engineering team in the UAE.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of construction, industrial and event-related projects involving structural steelwork, temporary structures and bespoke engineered systems. Projects may include stages, platforms, temporary roofs, access systems, towers, trusses, scaffold-supported structures and other specialist steelwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare structural design schemes, calculations, models, drawings and technical reports.
• Design steel and temporary structures for strength, stability, serviceability and robustness.
• Develop designs for platforms, temporary roofs, towers, access systems and bespoke event structures.
• Design steel members, connections, base plates, brackets, trusses, frames and supporting systems.
• Complete steel connection design using IDEA StatiCa or similar software.
• Develop and coordinate BIM and 3D structural models.
• Review project briefs, loading requirements, site conditions, access restrictions and erection methods.
• Coordinate with project managers, fabricators, contractors and external consultants.
• Support site surveys, technical queries, design updates and project revisions.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, project requirements and UAE regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• Proven experience in structural steel design, temporary works or specialist structures.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis, load paths, stability, member design and connection behaviour.
• Experience with BIM and 3D modelling software, such as Revit, Tekla Structures or equivalent.
• Experience using structural analysis software, such as Autodesk Robot, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000 or similar.
• Practical experience with IDEA StatiCa or equivalent connection design software.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Understanding of fabrication, erection methods, construction tolerances and UAE design requirements.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with technical, commercial and site-based teams.

Experience with event structures, stages, temporary roofs, scaffolding, access systems, platforms or other temporary works will be highly advantageous.
